April Maskiewicz Cordero is Professor of Biology at Point Loma Nazarene University where she teaches courses in ecology, conservation, research methodology, evolution, and science education. With her rich experience base in the Christian college setting, April has developed sensitive and effective ways of introducing and exploring issues that evoke controversy among Christian science students. She has been active in several professional development projects with schoolteachers and university biology faculty and was one of four professors coordinating the PLNU/BioLogos “Biology by the Sea” Christian school teacher program. April is a member of the BioLogos Voices speakers bureau. She has a bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of California, San Diego; a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of California, San Diego; and a doctorate in Mathematics and Science Education from San Diego State University and University of California, San Diego. April was a high school biology teacher in the 1990’s for nine years before returning to college for her doctorate. She adores spending time with her two married sons and daughter-in-laws.
